Meri Stjuart ili Marija Stjuart, odnosno Meri I od Škotske (engl. Mary I of Scotland; decembra 1542[a] — 8. februar 1587) je bila škotska kraljica od 14. decembra 1542. do 24. jula 1567. godine[3] i žena francuskog kralja Fransoa II, a samim tim i kraljica Francuske od jula 1559. do decembra 1560. godine. Meri je bila jedina preživela i zakonita naslednica Džejmsa V kralja Škotske. Kada je imala samo 6 dana njen otac je umro i ona je nasledila tron[3], a devet meseci kasnije je i krunisana. Veći deo svog detinjstva je provela u Francuskoj dok su Škotskom vladali različiti regenti. Godine 1558. udala se za princa Fransou[3] koji će godinu dana kasnije postati kralj Francuske kao Fransoa II. Međutim, Fransoa II je bio slabog zdravlja te je tako nakon više od godinu dana vladavine preminuo, a Meri je postala udovica. Nakon toga Meri se vratila u Škotsku i preuzela upravljanje državom 1561. godine.[3] Četiri godine kasnije udala se za svog rođaka Henrija Stjuarta 1565.[3] Njihov brak se okončao nesrećno. Februara 1567. kraljičina rezidencija je bila uništena u jednoj eksploziji, a Henri je nakon toga nađen mrtav u bašti.

Džejms Hepbern, grof od Botvela, bio je glavni osumnjičeni za Henrijevu smrt, međutim, oslobođen je optužbi aprila 1567. godine. Mesec dana pošto je oslobođen optužbi, oženio se Marijom što je izazvalo negodovanje naroda. To je rezultovalo zbacivanjem Marije i njeno zatvaranje u dvorac Lohleven. Marija je 24. jula 1567. godine bila prinuđena da abdicira u korist svog jednogodišnjeg sina[3], kojeg je dobila sa Henrijem[3], Džejmsa. Pošto je bezuspešno pokušala da ponovo preuzme vlast, pobegla je u Englesku kod svoje rođake kraljice Elizabete I.[3]
